It was an absolut privilege to attend a friends wedding in Delhi. Being part of a Punjabi Wedding was an extraordinary experience.
The days leading up to the actually wedding were filled with pre-wedding parties and religious ceremony at the house of the groom.
Family and friends were invited to spent these hours leading up to the actual wedding day.
Being part of the wedding party also means having the right outfit to wear. After arriving in Delhi, and going out to shop for the right outfit, I had to learn very quickly that most things wouldn’t fit me. The solution was to find a tailor that would be able to measure and sew an outfit within 5 days.

In between working in my office in Delhi and the said pre-wedding parties, it took 6 visits to the tailor in order to have the perfect wedding outfit made. Everything leading up to the day of the weeding has been an unforgettable experience.
The Wedding Day

The wedding started on a Saturday afternoon by meeting again at the grooms house. From there we took a car ride through Delhi to the actual wedding location. A wedding in India just doesn’t start like that, there is a music parade with a band and the groom riding on a horse to start it all off.

A three hour ceremony with snacks and refreshments was followed by a big dinner buffet Punjabi Style.

After days of celebrating the newly wedded couple for days we returned to the hotel at around 4 am on Sunday morning. A once in a lifetime experience did come to an end.
The memories of these beautiful days and nights will always be present.
