In all these years that I have been traveling to India, I never took the time to make my way to Agra to the see the Taj Mahal.
On my last trip, before Christmas 2021, I finally made it. My driver Alvin and I left Delhi on a Saturday morning, heading southeast towards the city of Agra. Agra is the old capital of India. The city has many historical places to offer and it was clear from the very beginning that my two day trip will only cover a fraction of what Agra has to offer.

Arriving at the Taj Mahal is an unbelievable feeling, entering the gates and see this massive monument. The weather was beautiful and because of the Covid-19, and the fact that no foreign tourists had been allowed to enter India, the amount of people visiting the site was very small. No long line ups and always enough space to take a good shot with the camera.

Seeing the details on the outside of the main building was fascinating. But even the many mosques that surround the “Taj” are impressive. The site is telling a story from a time long past, from a different India.
After walking around on the grounds for hours, constantly discovering new perspectives and finding yet another piece of history, this day ended with a stunning sunset.

It was an unforgettable day and I know that I will return to Agra, the Taj and that I will explore the many different treasures in the area in the future.
