The Prussian Castles in Potsdam are a perfect destination, no matter what time of year. It was my first visit in winter. Snow everywhere, blue skies and sunshine made this excursion magical.

Some of the buildings and features seem even more beautiful when set in snow. With the sunshine and the white contrast of the snow, the gold seemed even richer and brighter

I had a little photo shooting project and it turned out to be the perfect day for it. WoolOvers, an English manufacturer of fine woolen pullovers and accessories, had sent me some sweaters to try on and take pictures of for their Instagram page. It was cold but a lot of fun.

The problem, as always, is that when you have lots of fun, time flies. Even though the days are getting longer, there was not enough time to explore all of what this park has to offer. Before heading back to the car I did stop at the “Ruin Mountain”. These are ruins built to look like ruins. The Prussian King, at the time, was fascinated by ruins and decided to have some built.

Finally, on the way back to the car, there is the mandatory stop at the Orangerie, one of my favorite places in Park Sanssouci.

It was amazing to see Park Sanssouci covered in snow — something that doesn’t happen too often. I am very happy that I had the chance to get to see it this way.

Until next time…
